The plastering diploma course is designed to deliver comprehensive knowledge and skills of plastering. Some learning providers offer the plastering diploma course beginning at level 2 with options to work towards your assessment to City and Guilds 6708-23 level 2 NVQ as well as to obtain a CSCS card (which is now required on build sites).

Whichever course you decide to undertake, you will on successful completion, become an employable and competent plasterer.

The plastering diploma course is completely hands-on and onsite. Most learning providers will provide tools and materials but you will be required to wear suitable clothing and protective footwear (preferably steel toed), which is compulsory.

The plastering diploma course is ideal for people who aspire to become a fully qualified plasterer as well as widen their career choices to move into more advanced training and qualifications in the plastering trade. It is also for practicing painters or other people in the build trade who want additional skills to better position themselves to offer other services that are not necessarily their core specialty.

Each learning provider’s course content varies and some will offer internal and external plastering as part of the plastering diploma course. In general, you will learn the following:

  • Principles of building construction, information and communication
  • Plastering materials to interiors
  • Fix dry lining and plasterboards to interiors
  • Laying sand and cement screeds
  • Finishing

After completing the plastering diploma course

Upon successful completion of the plastering diploma, why not move on to the assessment in order to achieve NVQ level 3 and obtain a CSCS card.
