The Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching certification is an internationally recognised, role-based certification that allows candidates to develop the necessary skills required to plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot complex network solutions.

Who is the CCNP course aimed at?

The CCNP Routing and Switching qualification is aimed at those with at least one year worth of relevant networking experience, who are looking to enhance their skills and develop a level of competence that will allow them to work independently to develop complex network solutions.

In order to take the course, you will need to hold a valid Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching certification or any Cisco CCIE certification.

CCNP course content

The CCNP programme can be completed as three separate modules, and covers topics such as:

  • Implementing, monitoring, and maintaining routing services within an enterprise network.
  • Planning, configuring, and verifying the implementation of complex enterprise LAN and WAN routing solutions using a range of routing protocols in IPv4 and IPv6 environments.
  • The configuration of secure routing solutions to support branch offices and mobile workers.
  • Implementing, monitoring and maintaining switching within converged enterprise campus networks.
  • The secure integration of VLANs, WLANs, voice, and video into campus networks.
  • Monitoring and maintaining complex, enterprise routed and switched IP networks
  • Planning and executing regular network maintenance

In order to obtain the CCNP certification, candidates must pass the following examinations:

  • Implementing Cisco IP Routing (ROUTE)
  • Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks (SWITCH)
  • Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks (TSHOOT)
